About the Project

Role

Kupicom is a popular flight and train booking service.

Product Designer (2023–2024)

The service is available both on the web and through native iOS and Android apps.

Most of the design work focused on responsive web experiences and mobile applications.

I designed features across both web and mobile platforms and validated product hypotheses through user research, including usability testing and in-depth interviews.

I also contributed to and evolved the design system, working closely with engineering.

Goals

1

2

Develop the product, design new features, and improve existing ones based on the key business metric: conversion to ticket bookings and ancillary service purchases.

Maintain and evolve the design system while improving and streamlining collaboration between design and engineering.

Ancillary Services

Old Online Check-in

A large amount of unstructured information, a poorly visible price, and primary actions that were not fixed on screen.

New Online Check-in

Almost all copy was rewritten, the information was restructured, and the primary actions were made persistent within the interface.

↑ 18%

increase in online check-in conversion after several design iterations.

Insurance Redesign

The original section had several issues: an awkward layout, manipulative UX aimed at users trying to decline the service, and questionable UI decisions.

New Insurance Experience

While working on the service, the team and I also reconsidered the insurance packages themselves, removing outdated and irrelevant options. The redesigned interface presents insurance options as cards.

In-flight Meals

Designed and launched an ancillary in-flight meal service from scratch across all platforms.

Other Ancillary Services

Throughout my time on the product, all ancillary services were iteratively redesigned and improved.

At different stages of the design process, we recruited users to validate hypotheses and design solutions through usability testing.

Booking Flow
Redesign Concept

Existing Solution

The current booking flow had a number of both visual and technical issues. We formed a hypothesis that removing duplicated content and visual noise, while establishing a clearer visual hierarchy, could increase conversion to ticket issuance.

New Solution

Almost every element on the page was revisited and redesigned. The new solution removed duplicated content, introduced clearer visual hierarchy, and redesigned several key components, including input fields and the header. As a result, the overall height of the form was reduced by almost half.
